The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Data and AI Engineering team. This role is ideal for individuals who take pride in building secure, scalable, and well-engineered systems that enable real-world data and AI applications in the life sciences domain.
You’ll collaborate with Data Engineers and AI Engineers to develop clean, maintainable code and API-driven architectures that adhere to modern engineering best practices — including testing, observability, and CI/CD workflows. Whether you're early in your journey or a seasoned developer, we welcome those who strive for technical excellence and team-oriented delivery.

Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain well-documented, testable RESTful APIs using FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks
• Build modular backend components that follow software engineering best practices (e.g., SOLID, DRY, separation of concerns)
• Implement reliable integrations with relational and NoSQL databases
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps)
• Apply security best practices (auth, validation, least privilege)
• Work across cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Integrate observability (logging, metrics, tracing)
• Participate in reviews, architecture sessions, agile ceremonies

Requirements – Must have

Core Experience & Skills
• Experience with Python-based backend frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or similar
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, modular architecture, and asynchronous programming
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and automation tools
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
• Solid grasp of security in backend development
• Experience with cloud platforms
• Commitment to code quality and documentation
• Agile team experience
• Fluent English (spoken and written)

ТРЕБОВАНИЯ – ОБЯЗАТЕЛЬНО

• Опыт с Python (FastAPI, Flask)

• Знание REST, асинхронности, архитектуры

• Навыки CI/CD, PostgreSQL, MongoDB

• Понимание безопасности в backend

• Облачные платформы (Azure, AWS и др.)

• Agile и английский язык — обязательно

Requirements – Nice to have
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes
• Familiarity with OpenAPI, OAuth2, JWT
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
• Collaboration with Data/ML engineers
• Understanding of regulated industries
